Why the Daily News Matters

Screen Shot 2019-10-24 at 8.02.33 PM.png

Gun control. Minimum wage. Immigration. Whether pro or con, we can all agree that this issue is greatly influencing the national agenda.  However, it’s often difficult to discern the specific points of debate, the political, social and economic context, as well as the implications for the country and its citizens.

The Daily News invites you to join us for lunch and an exclusive presentation on the tough topics currently affecting both the city and the nation. From the increased minimum wage to the Black Lives Matter movement, the affordable housing challenge to the newly-invigorated gangs of New York—yes they exist and are probably in your neighborhood—the Daily News will provide insight, analysis and information on these complicated and divisive issues.

As New York’s hometown newspaper, the Daily News has been on the front lines of quality-of-life issues since 1919, advocating and affecting change, demanding accountability and investigating injustices. This legacy makes us uniquely qualified to explain the tough topics that are relevant to us all.

I hope you will join us for this substantive and spirited debate.

Dear Daily New Subscriber,

The Daily News is back as the paper of the people – and I invite you to take a look. With a renewed focus on providing information vital to living—and working—in the greatest city in the world, the Daily News exposes, explains, enlightens and entertains. From crime to gossip, political corruption to sports, we deliver the aggressive reporting that has been the News’s hallmark for almost a century.

We share in outrage at the bad. We celebrate the good. We promote and protect the interests of New Yorkers. We make a difference. Because of a Daily News editorial, story or investigative series:

  • The Metropolitan Transportation Authority was forced to abandon raising the base subway and bus fare to $3.

  • Day care centers are required to post safety report cards

  • A Department of Investigation probe was launched finding deep city failures resulting in child abuse deaths.

  • The New York City Housing Authority dropped eviction proceedings against two blameless families.

  • Cheerleaders at the Young Women’s Leadership School in Queens received $15,000 in reader donations to compete at the national championship in Orlando.

It is our privilege to serve you and we would like nothing more than to serve you again. Please come back to New York’s hometown newspaper--I think you will be happily surprised.

Dear Advertiser,

The Daily News is honored to have been nominated—in virtually every category—by the New York State Associated Press Association in this year’s competition. This peer recognition highlights the clout, credibility and influence that distinguishes Daily News coverage.

Spanning 14 categories, the nominations include photography, staff writing, feature writing, design and best headline writing. The selected pieces show our continued focus on issues that matter most to New York and the nation and include the “God Isn’t Fixing This” cover, the “Gangs of New York” investigation, the “Fight for Their Future” education features and  “2nd & Hell: Blast levels East Village buildings” article.

This environment of excellence benefits our advertisers, providing an important and influential context for your message. By shining a spotlight on the important quality-of-life issues, the Daily News creates a powerful, engaging and influential bond with readers.

As the momentum continues, we look forward to sharing more good news with you soon.

CEO, New York Daily News
